Information can easily be found online
When you want to put together a picture of a family’s history, the property information can be a useful piece.
You can easily find the history of a property at home from your own living room, and in this article we will show you two websites where you can find this.
Seeiendom.no
We start with the website Seeiendom.no.
Here you can search for the address you are looking for. We use the address “Karl Johans gate 1 i Oslo” as a starting point for this example.
1. Press “Vis mer informasjon” (show more information). You will then see some more pieces of information.
Take note of the farm number. This is information we will use later.
2. To see even more information, you can press “Grunnboksinformasjon”. To see this information you have to log in with “MinID” (an electronic login system used to secure a range of internet services in the Norwegian public sector).
Digitalarkivet.no
You can also use the Digital Archive (Digitalarkivet) to find information on properties.
1. Go to the website Selvbetjening gammel grunnbok.
This is where you can use the number you found at Seeiendom.no, write it in the search area to find the right information.
2. The press “Bestill” (order) to get the information on the property sent to you in an e-mail.
You will then see a form pop up which you can fill out.
3. Wen you have done this, you will be sendt a PDF file with the history of the property. This can be very interesting to read, and might help you get a picture of the life of your ancestors/family.
